My art is an extension of myself based on color, feeling and emotion. I take from nature transferring from me to the canvas painting intuitively and visually using texture as a base for my work. Evolving with my feelings and emotions my art is always fresh and meaningful.
Dorothy, a visual artist creates abstract works in acrylic based on what she sees and feels from her surroundings. Spending several months in Florida each year has greatly influenced her palette. Inspired by the atmosphere, her works are crisp and clean conveying a feeling of space and tranquility.
Born in Massachusetts, Dorothy grew up and lived in the city for many years. As a teen, she and her family moved to the suburbs of Boston where she still remains today with her husband.
Dorothy is an established artist who worked with a publishing company for over 8 years as a folk art painter. Her work has been licensed by companies such as York Wallcoverings, Wallquest, India Home Fashion, Fashion Mats Inc., Close to the Art, Direct International, Magnet Works, Blossom Bucket and Mohawk. She broke away from folk art to pursue her love in abstract art.
Primarily self-taught artist, Dorothy has studied in group classes at various museums in Massachusetts. She is currently represented by Chemers Gallery in Tustin, Ca. and Galleria Mare' in Nokomis, Fl., as well as Art Expressions in Northborough, Ma in 2009 and Artmosphere Gallery in Boston, Ma in 2008. Dorothy has received awards from juried art festivals she has participated in while in Florida. She has painted commissioned pieces for a private home in Naples as well as several paintings for Mirick O'Connell Attorneys at Law for their offices in Westborough, Worcester and Boston Massachusetts.
